A small and medium enterprise is an entity that has crossed a part of its growth journey and yet like a teenager, it is yet not a full-grown adult. The heads of such enterprises very often find themselves wearing several caps at the sametime. While they are the primary drivers of the enterprise as the visionary entrepreneur, they are additionally the leaders who motivatetheir team to work alongwith them and they are the CEO who efficiently run the day to day tasks and activities of the company. We call such entrepreneurs EEOs – Entrepreneurs and Executive Officers.
Given these 3 constant roles that EEOs need to play till their enterprise reaches a different level of scale, very often they find it difficult to balance between the different roles. Many of them keep learning and growing on the job, and therefore may not be aware of the different competencies that are required to execute all these roles successfully.
EEO Competencies: A competency is acombination of observable and measurable knowledge, skills, abilities and personal attributes that contribute to performance in a work role. Each work role requires a different set of competencies based on the tasks that are needed to be performed to execute the role successfully.
Entrepreneurial and Executive Officer Competencies therefore is a basket of all those competencies that are required for an entrepreneur to grow and manage their enterprise successfully.
E CompAss: In order to scientifically understand the level of these competencies, Maanas has developed the E CompAss. It is a battery of psychological and work role assessments that help entrepreneurs become aware of where they are in terms of their entrepreneurial competencies. This assessment basket consists of combination of standardised psychological tools, subjective assessments of work roles and rating scales that put together provide a comprehensive and in-depth understanding to the entrepreneur.
As a resultant of the process of interaction with our consultants during the intake, while appearing for the assessment tools and through the report sharing, the EEOs develop an elaborate understanding of their competency map. They come to know which competencies they need to strengthen, which they need to use more, which they need to start using less, for which ones, it is time to delegate activities to others based on the developmental stage of their enterprise.
Finally and most importantly, it helps them to balance between their Entrepreneur, Leader and CEO roles so as to optimise the growth of their enterprise.
